This is the best spicy salmon recipe to hit the internet, hands down. A simple but tasty Baked Garlic Salmon filet recipe that can be cooked within minutes in an oven or a grill. This easy salmon recipe is keto-friendly and gluten-free. It pairs well with a honey dressing slaw salad or white rice.
What kind of salmon is best tasting?
I personally love Atlantic Salmon, but any thick cut salmon with the skin can be great for this Chili Garlic Salmon Recipe. Atlantic Salmon has a subtle fish taste that is not over powering, in my opinion. Other popular variations of commercially available salmon include Coho Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, and Copper River Salmon. Not all variations are available 12 months out of the year, but sustainable fish purchases are highly encouraged.
Unless you prefer raw garlic and chili peppers, be sure to cut the ingredients super thin. This might be the hardest part about this recipe.
I prefer BBQ Cut Norwegian Farmed Atlantic Salmon. You can purchase it at Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc. It is usually a thicker cut and bakes/grills well leaving the inside moist.
Feel free to use your favorite type of chili peppers for this recipe
2 salmon filets with skin (norwegian farmed atlantic salmon in a bbq cut is my favorite)
4-6 cloves thinly sliced garlic
1 sliced chili pepper (jalapeno, serrano, or thai chili depending on your spice tolerance)
coarse salt
coarse pepper
extra virgin olive oil
Prepping the Salmon
-Heat oven to 400 degrees.

-Oil the skin-side of the salmon and place it on your cooking pan with the skin down.

-Gently cut multiple slits on the pink flesh part of the salmon making sure the cuts are big enough to fit your thinly sliced garlic and chili peppers.

-Stuff garlic and chili peppers in each slit.

-Sprinkle coarse ground black pepper and coarse salt on top of the fish.

-Drizzle cooking oil on the fish until it is coated well.

-Place the pan in the oven and cook for about 12 minutes (could vary based on thickness).

-Enjoy hot with a side of slaw salad, roasted/steamed veggies, or white rice.

Recipe Notes
This salmon can also be grilled. Place directly on a grill and cook with a cover until desired temperature.
